Is your Gollum jade plant wrinkled? Let’s Fix it.
A wrinkled Gollum jade plant is typically a sign of dehydration. These succulents are adapted to store water in their leaves, so when they become wrinkled, it means they lack moisture.
Do you barely water it? Do you give it just a little bit of water at a time? If your soil is completely dry, your pot has good drainage and the next day or two after watering the leaves get nice and plump again, so, your plant is thirsty. Only water it again the next time the topsoil is dry. In general, succulents prefer deep, thorough, infrequent watering rather than just dribbles of water now and then.
Underwatering is the most likely cause. Ensure you’re not watering too infrequently or not providing enough water. However, extreme temperature changes can stress the plant and cause it to lose water. So, your plant leaves shrivel and fall off.
Is the Gollum Jade Plant Wrinkled After Watering?
If watering doesn’t solve your problem and its stem isn’t mushy or discoloured, you are involved with tiny terrors: Spider Mites. They create fine webs and cause light-coloured spots on leaves. They thrive in low humidity, so bumping up the moisture can deter them. In high infestation, you must spray your wrinkled Gollum jade plant with a miticide.
Is Your Gollum Jade Plant Wrinkled After Repotting?
After repotting, plants lose part of their roots, so, they cannot absorb water as well as before. It causes stress on your plant and your Gollum jade will get wrinkled. Be patient and let it adapt to its new house. you can help your plant by putting it in a pot with enough drainage holes and light soil. water it as I told you above (a deep, thorough, infrequent watering when its topsoil dries out).
Is your Gollum Jade Plant Leaves Wrinkled and Soft?
If your Gollum Jade plant stem is mushy or discoloured and its leaves are wrinkled, its roots are rotted. This problem caused due to two wrong caring manners:
- Poor Drainage: If the soil is waterlogged, it can prevent the roots from absorbing moisture effectively. Use a pot with enough drainage holes and fill it with sandy soil containing pumice, and perlite, or use ready cacti and succulents soil mix.
Some people are interested in planting in pots without drainage holes, to grow your Gollum Jade Plant healthy in a cachepot, read my other articles “How to plant in ceramic pots without holes” and “How to water plants in pots without drainage holes”.
- Overwatered Gollum Jade: Overwatering can lead to root rot, hindering the plant’s ability to absorb water and nutrients. To solve this problem, you must remove your plant from the soil, prune the rot roots, treat them with a fungicide and bactericides and replant it in perlite as long as produces new roots.
How to Fix a Wrinkled Gollum Jade?
- ➡ Check the soil moisture: I always recommend Sticking your finger into the soil. If it’s dried several inches down, it’s time to water. you can also use a wooden skewer, if the soil sticks to it, the soil is wet and you must water only when the wood is removed from the soil clear.
- ➡ Water thoroughly: as I told you before, succulents prefer deep, thorough, infrequent watering. So, when you water, ensure the water drains out of the pot’s bottom.to avoid overwatering or underwatering, follow the previous tip.
- ➡ Improve drainage: succulents thrive in light soils. Avoid growing them in heavy soils with poor draining. So, report your Gollum Jade plant into a well-draining potting mix such as sandy soil with pumice, and perlite.
- ➡ Check the stems for root rot symptoms: If you suspect root rot, you must repot your wrinkles Gollum Jade plant into fresh soil, remove any damaged roots, and spray a fungicide or bactericide on the roots.
- ➡ Provide stable conditions to keep your plant away from stress: Keep the plant in a bright location with consistent proper temperatures and humidity.
